Fallout 76 Crafting Guide: Materials and Nested Recipes

The number you enter in the Crafting Planner is how many times you will perform that recipe. A perk or a batch bonus can add finished items beyond that count, so read the make count when the recipe shows one. Record what you already hold before you collect more. The planner does not see your character on its own.

The crafting planner with the Fusion Core recipe selected, listing the five flux materials per craft.

Start at a crafting station that makes the kind of item you need. Bethesda's distinguishes Craft from Modify and explains that you need the recipe knowledge, components and any required equipped Perk Cards. To open collected plans and recipes, open the Pip-Boy, go to Notes, highlight Recipe Book and choose Open, following Bethesda's .

Enter crafts, then read what one craft makes

Stimpak asks for 1 Blood Pack, 2 Antiseptic and 1 Steel each time you craft it. Three crafts require 3 Blood Packs, 6 Antiseptic and 3 Steel. If you record 1 Steel, 2 Steel is still missing. Blood Packs and Antiseptic stay at the full amount until you record those too.

The detail beside the recipe is the cost of one craft. Extra output from a perk or a batch bonus is not added for you. After you learn Recipe: Stimpak, add the crafts you intend to make and compare the missing line with the Stimpaks and ingredients you actually have. The finished Stimpak is a separate item from the recipe row.

Camera Film shows a make count. One craft uses 3 Adhesive, 5 Crystal, 5 Plastic and 5 Silver, and it makes 12 film before bonuses. Two crafts use 6 Adhesive, 10 Crystal, 10 Plastic and 10 Silver, and they make 24 film. Entering 2 means two crafting actions. It does not mean two pieces of film. If you wanted a different number of film, change the craft count and read the make count again, because the recipe only completes in whole crafts.

Owned stock is subtracted once

Add Insect Repellent beside one Stimpak craft and the shared materials are combined first. That Stimpak craft needs 1 Steel. The repellent craft needs 2 Steel. Together that is 3 Steel. Recording 1 Steel leaves 2 Steel missing. The same Steel is not charged for Stimpak and then charged again for the repellent.

If that Steel is in your recorded inventory, the owned amount is the carried count plus the stash count. A second number typed only on the crafting page is not added on top of the inventory record. The owned field follows the inventory entry. Update the inventory when you pick the material up, use it, or move it in the game, or both tools will keep describing the previous pile.

An ingredient you already own in full does not create extra crafts. The planner asks only for the amount still short. Recording more Steel than the plan needs leaves the missing line ready and does not spend the surplus on a craft you did not add.

Choose a recipe for what is still missing

The Fusion Core recipe crafts the power armor Fusion Core mod. Each craft spends 1 ammunition Fusion Core on that mod. It does not make another core. Three crafts need 3 ammunition cores. Record 1 core you already hold. On that ingredient, choose Craft ingredient and select the recipe that makes one core. That recipe makes 1 core per craft from 1 Stable Cobalt Flux, 1 Stable Fluorescent Flux, 1 Stable Violet Flux, 1 Stable Crimson Flux and 1 Stable Yellowcake Flux.

The owned core comes off the requirement before the new crafts are counted. You still need 2 cores, so the planner adds 2 crafts, not 3. Each flux is required 2 times. The ingredient table shows Needed 3, Owned 1, Crafts 2, Makes 2 and Extra 0. Gather or buy it leaves the cores on the material list instead of expanding them. The two Fusion Core recipes do different jobs: the power armor recipe spends a core on the mod, and the flux recipe makes a core.

When several crafts need the same made ingredient, those amounts are added together before the craft count is rounded up to a whole recipe. Your owned quantity is applied to that combined total a single time. If the chosen recipe cannot be applied, the list keeps the unexpanded cost and names the reason.

Take the missing line to junk or an unlock

A material row can open Find junk for Steel. The same handoff exists for Antiseptic, Adhesive and the other scrap materials in the plan. Read how to choose junk before scrapping something a recipe still needs intact. Carry weight is where you record the items you are holding so this plan can subtract them. Plan your unlocks is the place to mark Recipe: Stimpak learned only after the character has learned it.

Clear plan removes the selected recipes. It leaves owned materials and the other tools alone. Add another craft raises the count by one, and the quantity control sets how many crafts you will perform.

Share the crafting plan without replacing your stash

Share plan copies a link to the recipes, craft counts and ingredient recipe choices saved in this browser. Opening that link shows a preview. Your saved plan is not changed until you choose Keep this plan, and the quantities stay read-only while the preview is up. Keeping it replaces the crafting plan for this tool. Inventory, salvage selections and the plan collection stay as they were.

Use my saved plan drops the preview. A link opened on another tool is refused, and a link that cannot be read leaves the saved plan unchanged. Fix any highlighted quantity before sharing. If this browser cannot store the plan, copy the share link before you close the tab.
