Fallout 76 plan collection: choose your next unlock

A useful plan wishlist starts with the equipment or workshop object you intend to make. Record which plans you have learned, keep the missing unlocks together, and compare their acquisition sources before spending currency. The Plan Collection keeps that decision separate from your inventory of materials.

Is owning a plan the same as learning it?

To learn a carried plan, open Notes in your Pip-Boy, highlight Recipe Book and choose Open. Select the plan or recipe there to learn it. The separate Open action matters: selecting the Recipe Book item alone does not open the book. Bethesda’s show the current path.

Use Learned only after your character has learned the unlock in the game. Wanted means you intend to obtain it. These are different from carrying a plan item or having enough materials to craft its product. The collection does not read your character automatically, so changing a status records your choice on the website.

Select a plan and use Wanted to add it to your shortlist. After learning it in the game, select Learned. Switching the status replaces the previous choice; selecting the active status again clears it. The Not learned filter includes both wanted plans and plans you have not classified.

Where should you look for a missing plan?

Search by the plan's name, then read its acquisition entry. Some entries name vendors, while others refer to events, quests, expeditions or exploration rewards. Search the acquisition field for an activity or vendor you already intend to visit. A shared source is a useful way to combine several goals into one trip.

A listed reward source does not mean the activity is running now or that the next completion guarantees that reward. The collection deliberately keeps acquisition information separate from current event schedules and drop probabilities. A missing source is also not evidence that a plan is unobtainable.

Should you buy it from Minerva?

When a plan appears in a Minerva inventory list, its detail page links to that list and the Minerva Budget. Mark the plan Wanted before comparing your choices. The budget can add the wanted plans offered in its selected list and excludes selections you have marked Learned.

For example, Cattle Prod and Chemist's Backpack Mod are separate unlocks. Their list entries let you compare the actual purchase cost instead of assuming every desired plan costs the same amount. Use the inventory list containing your target; a reference list alone is not a claim that Minerva is present today.

What happens after you learn the plan?

For a matched crafting unlock, the plan detail includes a crafting handoff. The Crafting Planner combines the ingredients for your selected batches and subtracts the supplies you have recorded. Where an ingredient has a known recipe and output quantity, you can choose to craft that ingredient instead of collecting it intact.

This separates three decisions: which unlock to obtain, what to craft after learning it, and which supplies are still missing. Review your recorded inventory before farming or scrapping anything; a recipe may need an item intact even when that item can also produce scrap.

Keep and share your collection

Changes are saved in this browser. Share plan creates a link to the collection state, rather than a file to download. Opening another person's shared collection shows a preview first. Keeping that preview is a deliberate replacement of the plan collection, while unrelated crafting and inventory records remain intact.

Before accepting a shared collection, compare its learned status with your own character. A useful wishlist can be shared between players; learned unlocks still belong to the character that actually learned them.
