Fallout 76 Item Finder Guide: Find Items Across Your Inventories
Before changing characters to look for an item, compare where you last recorded it and when. The item finder keeps carried and Stash observations under private inventory labels. A dated count gives you a place to check; an unchecked container does not establish that the item is absent. These are your observations, not a live reading of your character.
Check the character and container
Check carried items in your Pip-Boy, or open a Stash box for stored items. The main menu's CHARACTER section is where Bethesda's directs you. are found throughout the game and can also be built in your C.A.M.P.
Give the inventory a label you recognize, such as Supply cache, without including a character or account name. Select that label under Inventory to update, then find the item you checked. This example uses Abraxo Cleaner. Open its reference page when you need to check the selected entry; similarly named items must not share an observation merely because their names resemble one another.
Keep an unfinished check without changing its date
Enter only the quantities you checked. Leave Stash blank when you did not inspect it; enter 0 only after checking that none was there. Add checked quantities places those entries in the draft. Clear entry removes the current input fields, not an earlier observation.
The pending label, quantity text and staged rows are saved automatically in this browser. They survive reload and a visit to an item's reference page. An unfinished number stays unfinished until you correct it. Saving a draft never changes recorded counts or makes an older check look recent.
Choose Record checked items after reviewing the draft. With 2 carried Abraxo Cleaner and Stash blank, only the carried count receives the new observation date. A previous Stash observation keeps its original count and date; an unrecorded Stash remains Not checked. Recording one private inventory clears its submitted draft while retaining another inventory's pending work.
Distinguish missing evidence from zero
The result below compares two private labels. Supply cache has a partial check of 2 carried Abraxo Cleaner and an unchecked Stash. Checked empty has a deliberately confirmed empty snapshot. Its two zeroes mean something different from the unchecked container.
Never recorded means that a label has no recorded snapshot. Not checked means that the selected item and container have no applicable observation. A positive count is also historical: check its date before changing characters, and update it after moving, scrapping or acquiring the item in the game.
Confirm a complete snapshot deliberately
An ordinary item check needs only Record checked items. Record complete snapshot has a wider effect: after confirmation, an omitted available base item becomes zero for that snapshot. Use it only after checking all currently listed base items in both carried inventory and Stash. Record empty snapshot records the deliberate conclusion that none was present in either container.
A complete snapshot is tied to the item list used for that check. A later addition to the list stays unconfirmed until checked. An item that becomes unavailable retains its historical count and date rather than becoming zero. These records identify base items; they do not distinguish individual legendary effects or other configurations on copies of that base item.
Share an item without sharing your inventories
Share item link carries the selected public item identity. Private labels, drafts, counts and dates stay out of the link. In a fresh browser, the shared Abraxo Cleaner link selects the item without creating an inventory. Opening it in a browser that already has private records leaves those records unchanged.
For weight or supply calculations, use the separate inventory planner and its carry-weight guide. Sharing the finder selection cannot back up private counts. If the browser reports that it could not save a change, keep the tab open and use Retry device save after resolving the storage problem. The previous saved data remains intact while the current change is held for retry.
